Helping to change a million lives

Akoma produces a range of organic and fair-trade, all-natural skin-care and spa products by working with the Akoma Cooperative Multipurpose Society in Ghana to help local communities rise out of poverty.

What was the challenge?

Akoma had already built a successful online business and sales through smaller independent stores but as the business expanded they felt the standard of their packaging didn’t really tell their story and was not reflecting the high standards to which they operate.

Their old in-house packaging designs were also proving a limiting factor when approaching larger retailers who expected a strong identifiable brand with a consistent look and feel right across the product range.

How did we respond?

After a period of research, we began to devise a visual language that would work across the entire product range, accounting for the differences in shape and size of the products and packaging.

We began with creating the “heart print pattern” and then set-out clear typography rules and determined the colour palette with its core scheme, plus supporting colours available to denote different scents, ingredients etc.

What else did we do?

Beyond the research and design stage, we produced all the initial print-ready pack artwork files ready to be handed to Akoma’s chosen packaging suppliers.

Additionally, we have helped with display, point of sale and promotional materials to support Akoma when exhibiting at trade shows and events.
